About Me:
With the re-release of Hood Treason Deluxe 2 Cd Edition (PEMG/Babygrande 2008), NYOIL heats up both the Hip Hop and political stage. The controversial release of “Ya’ll Should All Get Lynched” (Hood Treason 2006)—which was banned by YouTube within 48 hours of posting—ignited major media frenzy and continues to spread like wildfire well into 2008 (and beyond). NYOIL is officially stamped as a dynamic speaker and respected emcee universally.

NYOIL (pronounced N-Y Oil) recently grabbed the official seal of approval from Chuck D. of Public Enemy. While on NYC’s Hot 97 Miss Jones In The Morning (#1 morning show in NYC), about 6 million listeners heard Chuck D announce that he placed NYOIL at the top of his list as an artist he is following. The Fleet DJs expanded the movement by adding his music to their playlists; the social network phenomenon MySpace.com appointed NYOIL “Featured Artist of the Month” in July 2008; named BET.com artist of the month; and will make another appearance in the Source 20th Anniversary.

This year also proves to take NYOIL to another level politically. He recently spoke at the Hip-Hop Political Convention in Las Vegas; appeared on the Bev Smith Show (the only national talk show targeted to a Black audience) to discuss how to bridge the gap between adults and youth through Hip Hop; discussed the topic “Will America Still Be America If Whites Are The Minority?” on the BBC radio broadcast World Have Your Say (30 million listeners worldwide). Sony Radio Academy actually awarded the BBC Gold place for Listener Participation for a show hosted by NYOIL.

In addition, Dr. Ron Daniel, President of the Institute of the Black World 21st Century, invited NYOIL to speak with the likes of Congressman John Conyers, Sonia Sanchez, Dr. Cornel West, and Kevin Powell at the State of the Black World Conference in New Orleans, Nov. 19-23, 2008. He also received an invite by Rev. Al Sharpton to participate as a panelist at the “Hip Hop & Youth Divide” symposium at the 2nd Annual NYS Convention in NYC, October 4th.

The impressive list of growing invitations and accomplishments should not come as a surprise—media execs have been chasing after NYOIL since he emerged on the scene in 2006. BET (Black Entertainment Television) personally reached out to NYOIL about licensing “Ya’ll Should All Get Lynched” to be a part of BETs new animated video series programming project. The participation in this project will push NYOIL into about 10 million homes nationwide.

Hot 97, the #1 commercial Hip Hop and R&B radio station in NYC, Program Director Ebro Darden became an instant supporter of the movement. Darden introduced the rising emcee to popular radio personalities Peter Rosenberg and Angie Martinez. This support resulted in NYOIL being featured on Hot 97’s Who Next Live showcase series with Atlantic recording artists Saigon and Deemi. Still to this day, Peter Rosenberg gives NYOIL spins on “Up Late With Peter Rosenberg” and receives shout outs to over 5 million prime time listeners by Angie Martinez.

NYOIL received numerous awards and recognitions including: Grammy nods in two categories #3 (New Artist of the Year) and #31 (Song of the Year); Best Video of 2006 (LA Weekly); several CNN (#1 national news broadcast) mentions; featured artist on BET’s Rap City Top 10; nominated for BET Awards (2008) “Ya Heard” category; 1st place winner of the DJ Envy Training Camp showcase (2007); two singles from Hood Treason reached #1 in 7 out of the 40 college BDS markets nationally and internationally; a tour with Professor Griff of Public Enemy; XM Satellite’s Artist of the Month (2007); and several other appearances on major urban media outlets and panel discussions.
